About the clinic

Eastern insight. Western anatomy. Plain English.

The Acupuncture Clinic is a single-practitioner practice in Parker, Colorado. That means the person who takes your history is the person who treats you — every visit, every time.

The story

More than twenty-five years of hands on people

Tara Heinrich is a Colorado State Licensed, Nationally Certified, and Recognized Diplomate of Acupuncture by the NCCAOM and is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Colorado.

She holds a Master's Degree from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and has held a Colorado Massage Therapy License since 1999. That sequence matters: Tara spent years with her hands on muscle and fascia before she ever picked up a needle — so she reads tissue the way a manual therapist does and treats it the way a Chinese medicine practitioner does.

Through her use of acupuncture, massage therapy, and specialization in Chinese sports medicine, Tara provides a balanced, safe, and positive experience by combining the best of Eastern and Western bodywork.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
— Thomas A. Edison

The mission

A common-sense approach to a healthy lifestyle — available to clients of all walks of life.

Tara tailors each treatment to the individual patient's pattern of imbalance, lifestyle and needs to achieve whole body health and balanced well-being. Not a package. Not a protocol. A plan that fits the life you actually live.

What makes this different

Four things you probably won't find down the street

A licensed massage therapist who became an acupuncturist

Most acupuncturists refer out for soft-tissue work. Tara has been licensed in massage since 1999 and folds Neuromuscular Therapy, Tui Na and Chinese Sports Medicine into the same appointment — so the muscle gets released and the meridian gets treated in one sitting.

The consultation is the treatment's foundation

First visits run 90 minutes, with the first 15–20 spent in a one-on-one, in-depth conversation. Patients regularly describe it as the most thorough intake they've had from a practitioner in any field.

Teaching, not mystifying

You'll be told what point is being used and why. Chinese medicine has an internal logic — once you can follow it, you stop being a passenger in your own treatment and start noticing your own patterns between visits.

Cost-effective and honest about it

In a patient's own words: “She will do so without the chemicals and in a cost effective manner that you won't find in many licensed acupuncturists.” You'll be told when you don't need another visit.

Patient stories

What people say after their first visit

Every review below comes from a patient treated at the Parker clinic.

“Emotional and physical pain”

I was referred to Tara by my chiropractor. I had injured my back and it wasn't healing properly. I was in constant pain. I was open to the idea of acupuncture but I had no idea how it would work. My first visit was relaxing and supportive. Not only does my back feel different but I had an emotional release of pain I have been holding onto for years from the loss of my only son. I can't wait to have my next appointment with Tara.

“I was in so much pain!”

I was in so much pain from a muscle pull. I've been seeing Tara for 3 weeks. She has amazing knowledge of muscle/nerve issues. She has almost cured my aches and muscle pull with acupuncture, deep massage, and oils. I will always go to Tara.

“Treating all of me”

Tara is my most valued resource for my health. I trust she is looking out for my best interests. I was skeptical about acupuncture until she treated me a year ago and helped me quit smoking with ease. I've since gone to her for other health problems and have been met with compassion, knowledge and treatment that has helped with my ailments. I thank her for putting me on the path to well being and supporting my journey along the way.

“Newbie”

Being a “newbie” to acupuncture, yet having some knowledge of it, I have found it to be helping some chronic pain issues I've been dealing with for quite some time. Tara has a holistic approach and teaches me about what and why she is doing what she does and I feel valued and involved in my healing. As a former personal trainer I know a lot about the human body and yet on my own I could never ease the pain alone. Tara is now part of my team.

“Neck and low back pain”

Tara is a wonderful massage therapist and I've been to many. She worked on my chronic neck and pain in a different way and used acupuncture as well that has relieved a lot of the pain and overall, ever since my appointment, I have felt great! I had concerns at first but not anymore. I can tell that Tara knows exactly what she is doing. I am very thankful we met!

“So relaxing!”

I was not expecting having needles in me to feel good, but it really did! I was extremely comfortable the whole time and felt that Tara really had my total health as her priority.

“First time client”

Tara was excellent. Her thoroughness in our initial consultation was the best I have ever had from a practitioner in any field. And gentle… Thanks, I am hooked.

“Digestive issues”

I've had chronic issues with my digestive system for many years. She is working with me for that now too. I went from skeptic to proponent in a day. If you have anything that is “not right,” let Tara help. She will do so without the chemicals and in a cost effective manner that you won't find in many licensed acupuncturists. She helped me help myself and I plan to keep her around for a long time to come.

“Shoulder issues”

Tara Heinrich takes great care in addressing my shoulder issues. She is able to get to the pain in my shoulder and uses her knowledge and skills in acupuncture to remedy my needs. She is well trained, a good listener, pleasant and very concerned with my health well-being.
Lois T.Shoulder pain

“Acid reflux”

Thanks to Tara Heinrich I am starting to wean off of my acid reflux meds and go with straight apple cider vinegar. I had mentioned my condition to her. Unlike most doctors, she actually followed up with me to encourage me to start! And I finally did! Four years of ulcers, esophagus dilators and so much more — I am going more natural! Thanks for your inspiration!

“Smoking cessation”

The day I went to see Tara was Day 1 for me. I saw her in the morning and hadn't had a cigarette. She did all sorts of odd things that no doctor has done before. She explained what she was doing and then developed a treatment plan for my health in addition to smoking cessation. Every day since has been simple; I don't smoke. I tested myself and went for drinks with my smoking friends. I sat with them as they smoked and it didn't bother me in the least.
